She holds a Nursing diploma from Louisiana Technical College in Leesville Louisiana, as well as degree in Registered Nursing from Central Texas College in Killeen Texas, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in her class.

On June 25th, 2006 on their way back from North Augusta, South Carolina, and less than two hours after she and her AAU team, the (14U) Atlanta Lady Celtics had just won the championship in their age group at the Garden City Classic Tournament, Courtney and her mother, Meshal were involved in a fatal automobile accident 80 miles east of Atlanta.  Meshal would survive the accident, sustaining serious injuries from the crash including: (five hematomas to the head; right shoulder fracture; right arm, ribs and hand injury; three pelvic fractures; four lower back fractures; bladder injury; dislocated left hip and leg injury, and both knees crushed.) Courtney, however, was gone…gone at the age of 14!

After several years of intense and at times extremely painful Physical Therapy sessions to Meshal’s upper and lower body, subsequent Lumbar Spine MRI show: At the L4-5 level, disc desiccation with a diffuse disc bulge and a left-sided focal disc protrusion in the lateral recess and left neural. The diffuse bulge encroach upon both descending L5 nerve roots and the protrusion retrodisplaces the L5 nerve root.; At the L3-4 level, a diffuse disc bulge is present with a left-sided focal disc protrusion which retrodisplaces the left descending L4 nerve root and narrows the inferior aspect of the left foramen.; At the L2-3 level, a ventral and left-sided focal disc extrusion which narrows the lateral recesses encroaching upon the descending L3 nerve roots, retro displacing the left L3 nerve root.[/toggle] [/toggles]
